The heat is on, Leeshaw with a bonus.

A hot, sticky mornings watch at Leeshaw with a very light NW>1 at 16 degrees and full sun.
Too hot and still for Fly Flatts this morning, plus the fact that filming was going on, so headed for Leeshaw reservoir where, at least there is some shade to get out of the sun and a nice big tree for the dogs to get under.
Very hard work this morning with the surrounding fields very high in grass and vegetation grown high between the viewing track and reservoir, blanking out areas of shore. Any activity was way over on the far shore so scoping only and no chance of photos due to the distance and heavy heat shimmer.
Having said that, several waders were active along the shoreline with several Lapwing and Oystercatcher, all with chicks, whilst small waders were, Dunlin, Common Sandpiper, Ringed Plover and my bogey bird, and first of the year, Little Ringed Plover. Little Ringed Plover is a very rare visitor to Fly Flatts usually giving me one brief sighting per year, being a species that like a lot of shore.
Only one Curlew seen, again on the far shore where 2 Stoats were running about and giving the Lapwings a hard time.
Just 12 Canadas on the water along with 100 plus Greylags, including well grown goslings, but disappointing on the gulls with just one Black Headed present.
If the forecast is right theres more cloud and wind tomorrow, fingers crossed.
