A hot sunny morning with clear blue skies on an E>3 at 12 degrees and rising.
A rewarding morning at Fly Flatts and mission accomplished when the pair of Ringed Plover that I have been watching since February, and then checking on their chicks, finally fledged, right on time today, making their first short flights, which at last makes them less vulnerable from the Stoats, Weasels, Crows and Gulls that predict up there.
A very irritated pair of Oystercatchers in the compound showed why, when 1 chick was spotted very briefly before disappearing into the undergrowth.
Otherwise, as expected, in the conditions, things were generally quiet with just 3 Dunlin plus Common Sandpipers and a single Snipe. A few Swallows over the water today but no Swifts.
Passing Nolstar on the way back, 3 Golden Plover flew towards Cold Edge Dams, a rare species this year.
