Never two days alike, Fly Flatts.

Little to pick from today. Redshank.
3 LBBs out on the peninsular.
                                Common Sandpiper feeding
                                Lapwing guarding chick.

More excellent conditions at Fly Flatts this morning with full cloud cover on an icy cold E>3 and temperature down to 6 degrees.
Back to the winter coat this morning but ideal viewing conditions with good visibility apart from there was still heat shimmer around the shore, even at the low temperature.
The thing about watching a patch is you never know whats going to happen from one day to the next with birds coming and going all the time. After yesterdays wader bonanza I expected it to be quite active this morning but it turned out to be just the opposite with a clear out of Dunlin and Common Sandpiper, other than the breeders up there.
Just 2 pair of Common Sandpipers seen as well as a single Redshank and no Ringed Plover or Dunlin. The only new sighting was a single Snipe by the lagoon but very mobile.
The sky was once again alive with Swifts and Swallows over the water with an estimated 50 + Swifts, whilst 3 LBB gull were hanging around the ducklings and goslings on the NE peninsular.
A strengthening east wind tomorrow may have some effect on the situation.
