Breeding success for Common Sandpiper
as well as Redshank
The heat was on first thing this morning with clear blue skies and full sun on a light ENE> 3 and temperature up to 10 degrees before 0800 hrs.
A sleepy morning for the waders which were mainly way over on the exposed mud of the north shore making scoping very difficult with the distance, combined with a ton of heat shimmer all around the coast line.
At least 4 Ringed Plover are present plus 2 chicks, possibly 3, whilst several pair of Redshank and Common Sandpiper also have young but keeping them well concealed away from the crows.
Swallows and Swifts were once again feeding over the water, with 2 adult LBB and 2 Herring gulls in the NW corner.
A strong smell of burning moorland drifting over Queensbury this afternoon and evening, which is par for the course, but no sign of smoke.
