A windy cool morning at Fly Flatts with some very dark clouds and odd spells of sun on a W>4 at
12 degrees.
Plenty wader activity with good counts of the usual 5 wader species very mobile in their favoured westerly wind. Swarms of Swifts were over the water along with a few Swallows whilst a single male Tufted duck was still on the water.
Another quick gull check at Ogden mid p.m. found 12 LBBs and 2 Herring gull. The 2CY Herring had a deformed long curved bill but did,nt seem to cause it any problems but I bet a few birders get caught out with it this winter thinking Caspian.
Passerine alley produced me my first 3 Willow Warblers along with a pair of Bullfinch but its very quiet on the warbler scene this year, apparently due to a lack of insects.
A Grey Wagtail was down in the sluice gate area and a pair of Tufted were on the water along with a Canada with 4 young which is unusual for this site. Whilst driving home 3 Buzzard were in the air together.
Tomorrow morning at Fly Flatts could go either way with a film crew up there making some sort of German film apparently.
