1 of 2 Common Sandpiper
Pied Wagtail pair feeding young
Ringed Plover with a tasty dish
A bright but windy morning at Fly Flatts with a moderate WSW>4 at 10 degrees with broken cloud and sunshine.
Another of those mornings being hard work to rustle up some birds which is normal through to the end of June unless you strike lucky and get a rarity passing through.
Just the usual wader species this morning but no Dunlin present which is unusual and only a low count of Redshank, Ringed Plover and Common Sandpiper.
A check on the Pied Wagtail chicks was disappointing to find just 2 remaining chicks out of the 5 present last week but the 2 remaining look very close to being fledged now so hopefully they,ll make it.
I thought Fly Flatts was quiet until I got to Ogden mid afternoon with next to nothing there although Canada geese were up to 21 and 12 LBB gulls on the water briefly. The 2 Gt Crested Grebe and Heron were still present but otherwise poor.
Strong south westerlies may waft something my way tomorrow, he says, hopefully!
