Fly Flatts, breeding success for Oystercatcher.

Only 2 Dunlin showing this morning

                                            1 of 3 Oystercatchers
3 pair of Common Sandpipers now with young
3 adult breeding with no neck collars
2 female and male in foreground with shorter thicker bill

                                   2 Oystercatcher chicks still unfledged

A much healthier morning at Fly Flatts with a cold NW>3 and near full cloud with temp down to 9 degrees.
A pair of Oyks I,ve been watching over the last few weeks finally brought their 2 chicks out on display which are well grown but not yet fledged and still being well guarded by the adults. The adult pair was joined by another female which the male was displaying to as well as its mate although they only usually have one brood. Three more pair have also bred at separate nearby locations but I have,nt had any results from those as yet.
Only 2 Dunlin showing today with the other 10 moved on unless they were in a non scope-able area at the north end.
Otherwise down to the usual species with 3 pair of Common Sandpipers now with young but no sign of any Dunlin chicks as yet.
A steady flow of LBB gulls headed >NE whilst a single Kestrel was over the Nab. Where are all the Kestrels this year . The skies were filled with Swifts throughout.
