4 Dunlin back on the scene
plus the usual Redshank
The 2 newly fledged Pied Wags doing well
Male Ringed Plover
Dunlin and Common Sandpiper
New edition, Common Sandpiper chick
Plenty Meadow Pipits feeding young
A calm and milder morning with broken cloud and sunshine on a WSW>2 at 11 degrees clouding by 0945 hrs.
Good to get Dunlin passing through again with 4 present on an ever expanding shore with the water at a record load apart from the year it was drained. Several ponds and islands are now starting to show. The first Common Sandpiper chick appeared today whilst the Ringed Plover chick seems not to have made it and the pair look to be going for a second brood.
The 2 juv Pied Wagtails are very active although the adult pair are keeping them topped up with food. A single Snipe was in the top fields whilst a pair of Oystercatchers were very vocal, obviously having young nearby. Reed Bunting seem to be having a good breeding season as well as Mipits and the Wheatear pair fledged 4 young and have now left the area.
No movement of gulls today with near empty skies as expected in the calm bright conditions.
