A stagnant morning at Fly Flatts

                                                         1 of 4 Redshank

The 2 Greylag families doing well

                                        Just 3 Dunlin today
Plenty noisy Curlew with chicks present

Skeins of Greylags on the move.

2 ad 3 juv Stonechat present

                                             1 of 5 Common Sandpipers
                                                  Greylags >NW

A very stagnant morning weather and bird wise with poor reservoir conditions with a calm S>2 at 10 degrees and near full sun, not wader weather at all.
All the waders were reluctant to move in the still conditions this morning with just the usual species lazing on the shoreline. The family of Stonechat were again present and the pair of Wheatear busily taking food back to the young.
The highlight of the morning was skeins of Greylag geese over >NW with 5 skeins of 14, 8,11,6,7 and 1 all very high and direct. Not something I,ve seen before and presumably all non breeders moving areas.
After yesterdays blog about gulls I got a text from a Bradford blog watcher reporting good numbers of gulls at Harold Park so, with Ogden expecting to be mega busy in the sunshine, I headed for Harold Park and Park Dam where incidentally, Judy informs me that the Ogden Mute swan has landed there and is now with other swans including juvs.
As I got near the park the traffic was gridlocked with a Jubilee party going on in the park and swarms of people heading there. Next idea was to check Park Dam which is somewhere nearby but after driving around a new housing estate several times I gave that up as a bad job so called at Wibsey Park on the way home as the dogs were by now getting nattered and wanting their walk.
As predicted a while ago by Judy, a pair of Mute Swans were nesting so the other 6 have moved on because the nesting pair will claim the territory.
Otherwise it was just down to the usual duck pond stuff plus 1 Black Headed gull, an usual sight this time of year, roll on Monday when its all over.
