Fly Flatts, feeling like a mid November morn.

Always the Dunlins to break the boredom

                                                          plus the Common Sandpipers

                                              Another Cormorant over >N

An icy cold morning making it feel like mid winter with a NE>4 at 6 degrees with full low cloud and damping throughout.
A very disappointing morning given the conditions with expectations of a decent fly over at least but the best I could do was another Cormorant heading >N over the water.
A Golden Plover landed briefly in the top field, another rare bird this year in the Fly Flatts area whereas up to 2 years ago I was getting flocks of 300 + on the Flat Moor at this time of year as well as regular double figure counts at Nolstar.
Otherwise the morning was down to the usual 5 species of wader on the shoreline, Oystercatcher, Redshank, Ringed Plover, Dunlin and Common Sandpiper, the latter being well down in breeding pair numbers this year.
Oh well, the beauty of this time of year is you never know whats going to turn up tomorrow.
