Scandinavians hit Halifax.

                                    Halifax Waxwings.
                                    Just 2 present.

A topsy turvy day today with birds in the morning on a non birding trip and nothing in the afternoon when out birding.
Had to drop the car off for 0830 this morning in Halifax, then having 2 hours to wander around till it was done. I took the camera with just the small 28-70mm lens and did a tour of the area in search of Waxwings. After checking the hotspots of Matalans, Wickes, Sainsburys and Parish church etc I thought of heading back to do Pellon Lane / Gibbet St area but when crossing the road by the RSPCA building below the bus station I caught site of a single Waxwing in a red berry tree. As I got nearer it was joined by a second bird so mission complete after taking a stack of photos. The birds remained throughout, ignoring the busy pavement below the tree.
Early afternoon I had a quick check on Ogden in a mix of sunshine, drizzle, rain and snow on a cold N>3 at 4 degrees. As always, Ogden is very quiet after mid day, and today was no exception, with not a bird of any description in the Alders, either on the east or west bank .
A Dipper was by the Parakeet pond ( Ogden Clough) whilst a single female Goosander was on the water along with 2 ad Herring gulls and a few small gulls.
Luckily this morning saved the day with a species that I have,nt had for 3 years, and no big influx since 2013 when they were everywhere, even on apples in my garden.
Tomorrows weather could go either way with a light SW turning W and a chance of showers. Hopefully, no fog.
