Bullfinches in the Alders
As well as Siskin
Usual Tit flock
A blustery morning at SW>4 but the wind does,nt usually affect Ogden being well sheltered. A brighter morning with 50% cloud at 6 degrees.
The Alders were active with Bullfinch, Siskin, Goldcrest and the 4 species of Tit flock, whilst a flock of around 30 Redpoll were very mobile flitting around over the top of the tree canopy.
A group of 8 Redwing landed briefly by the Lodge House before heading off >N, whilst a Raven was overhead as well as a Gt Spotted Woodpecker.
In the afternoon I started getting calls of several skeins of Pink Footed geese heading west, starting off with 3 skeins over the Worth valley and then late afternoon 4 skeins crossing the Aire Valley all west and in the strong SW>6. Thanks to AK, JC and an unknown birder.
Unfortunately I was busy dog grooming in the afternoon so did,nt get chance to do any sky watching but a midday trip to Sainsburys Halifax found 14 Waxwing moving between the original site down Winding Road and to a yellow berry tree opposite, down the road between Sainsburys and Wickes.
A wet and very windy week ahead.
