Christmas morning bash. Ogden

                                    Record count of Bullfinch

                                    Treecreeper
                                    Noisy Raven over.

A half decent start to the morning with a light W>3 and occasional showers but by 0915 hrs the rain was coming down in stair-rods with the wind increasing and mist rolling in from the west.
The Alders and surrounding trees were alive with a record count of 14 Bullfinch as well as Goldfinch, Siskin and Redpoll though the Siskin and Redpoll were very flighty and using the top of the highest trees in the darkest corner of the west bank.
Several Goldcrest were moving through the waterside trees as well as Treecreepers and the usual 4 Tit species plus a single Nuthatch.
A small handful of small gulls were out on the water whilst a noisy, cronking Raven flew overhead towards Soil Hill.
Looking good for tomorrow morning so far with a moderate westerly and sunshine. I may even get my first visit to Fly Flatts this month though I doubt I,ll be overrun with birds up there at this time of year but Ogden is a place to keep clear of tomorrow with all the once a year walkers up there donned in spats with OS maps around their necks.
