Queensbury, 5 minute sunrise.
A good winter for Bullfinch.
Mix of Bullfinch, Siskin and Redpoll
As expected, fog on the tops of the moor this morning but a very quick red sunrise at Queensbury which was rapidly blanked out. Ogden was as dark as night with light drizzle turning to heavy rain, clearing slightly as I left but then a very wet afternoon.
Yet again, nothing on the water other than 1 LBB, 1 Herring and a handful of small gulls.
A flyover of 2 male Goosander was a good start as they headed east towards Soil Hill.
The west bank Alders were buzzing with Siskin, Redpoll and a record count of 11 Bullfinch all busy feeding very high up in the canopy and in very dark conditions throwing everything into silhouette and impossible for photos.
On the drive home a Barn Owl flew across the front of the car half way up Ned Hill but despite stopping and jumping out with the camera it kept going, low over the fields towards Bradshaw.
Possibly a better morning tomorrow with a light westerly and some sun.
BS.
