Definitely not an upland birding day.

The morning started with a strong gale force wind W>9 and heavy showers blowing across Foxhill at 47 mph, dropping slightly to gale force W>8 at 39 mph which continued throughout the day with the heavy horizontal showers continuing.
Dog walking this morning was heavy going with the wind trying to take my legs from under me, thank heavens for rigger boots. The dogs were ok because they,re small enough to keep sheltered below the wall.
A few hardy Common gulls were on the football pitch cowered down with their heads to the wind not seeming too perturbed by the conditions.
Looking at the forecast its going to be into the new year before any serious birding is done with nothing in sight other than strong winds and rain. At least we,ve reached the winter solstice now so we can look forward to some extra daylight in the weeks to come.
