Swallows and Linnets, Fly Flatts,(permit only)

A bit of a scraggy 1st summer female Wheatear.

                                                 Male Ringed Plover

                                                      More Dunlin

The Spume is rich in food attracting the waders.

Snagged up all week for morning birding so another mid afternoon visit which is always much quieter than the mornings at Fly Flatts. A moderate W>4 to 5 was blowing with low dark clouds and drizzle.
Limited access today as the wind brought out the windsurfers so the waders had moved to the north shore apart from a few Common Sandpipers, Dunlin and the usual Ringed Plovers. Scoping across the water found at least 9 Dunlin on the mud as well as 1 Oystercatcher and several Common Sandpipers plus 5 Redshank.
Swallows were constantly moving low over the water all >S whilst several Linnets had arrived into the area. Just 3 Wheatear present today.
With the good westerly and low cloud I thought I was in with a chance for a Tern with several Common, Arctic and Sandwich moving to the west of the country but the skies were strangely quiet, probably due to the time of day
