Some movement at last, Shelduck, Fly Flatts(permit only)

                                         Female Ringed Plover

                                                        male
                                               original pair

                                                 Buzzard mobbed with Ravens
                                             Still down to 3 Dunlin

Todays highlight, pair of adult Shelduck.

Very flighty with boats and windsurfers on the water.

A cloudy damp morning on a SW>3 at 9 degrees on a low cloud base hiding the tops of the turbines.
By late afternoon it was bright and clear with the wind increased to SW>4.
A steady morning with just the usual waders plus a distant Cuckoo calling and plenty Swallows over >S. Still down to 3 Dunlin and the original pair of Ringed Plover plus Redshanks and Common Sandpipers.
With the morning being poor I was going to give it a miss in the afternoon but conditions were just right and being Sunday you,re limited to where you can go so, luckily, mid afternoon I headed back up there which turned out to be a good move.
First off was two Raven mobbing a Buzzard in the distance, over the wind turbines plus a good show of the usual waders.
A good scope round found 2 white blobs in the far NE corner but a move of scope positions found them to be 2 Shelduck.
A dash along the west bank found them opposite me on the far east bank but moving several time onto the water then onto the north bank due to Sunday sailing. I had Shelduck down as a target bird, usually getting an odd visit late April but none this year until now.
Nothing else of note but reports of Sanderlings and Turnstones on the move so hopefully they,ll arrive in this area.
