A lull for Fly Flatts, (permit only), Ogden.

FLY FLATTS                                               A few LBB gulls on the water

All but 3 Dunlin gone now.

No sign of Barnie breeding with its Canada mate .
2 of 6 Oystercatchers, probably disturbed birds from Cold Edge.

                                                 4 Ringed Plover present

                                         2 noisy Ravens around.

If you want a family get a big un.  21 goslings with these 2 Canadas
                                     Must be running a creche
OGDEN                                        1 of 2 Heron.
juv Mute swan, rare for Ogden.
Reported to Judy at swan rescue.
Judy just got back to me about the swan. She put this bird and an adult on the water Monday after they crash landed in Thornton road. CS told me today that the ad male was there yesterday. Judy is going to check if it is ok tomorrow. It seemed quiet but was feeding today.
A cloudy but clear morning at Fly Flatts with a cool W>3 at 9 degrees.
A bit of a lull at the moment with all but 3 Dunlin moved on leaving just the usual species of wader.
A couple of Raven were very noisy  and I was told that breeding in their usual spot had failed this year with just the 2 birds still present. The family of 6 I got over recently were obviously just passing through.
Wheatears are still present with 3 still showing along with 2 adult Stonechats, the latter keeping very distant.
Ogden mid p.m. was very poor with no gulls present and although there is ample shore now showing not a wader of any description to be found. Several passerines singing but with the thickness of leaves now I gave those a miss and stuck to the water and shoreline.
Two Herons were at opposite sides of the water whilst a surprise to find a juv Mute Swan on the water until I got the info back from Judy at Swan rescue. This swan and an adult that Judy rescued Monday are believed to be from Middleton Park, Leeds.
The only other highlight was my first of the year male Blackcap whilst walking back to the car park.
