A mornings work at Fly Flatts and a distraught Mute Swan at Ogden.

Bad start to the morning removing bricks to get the gate open.

A cloudy morning at Fly Flatts with a W>3 at 10 degrees. Again a low cloud base blanking the wind turbines.
A bad start to the morning with 20 minutes moving bricks for access to the gate which some low life had tipped overnight. To make things worse the brush handle snapped as I was clearing the jetty of goose poo so nearly 1 hour birding lost.
By this time my birding head had gone so a steady walk of the west bank producing the usual 4 small wader species as well as 1 Oystercatcher and 2 Snipe. A Short Eared Owl and Raven were over the Nab Water Lane area whilst 2 drake Tufted duck were new to the water.
Another mid afternoon check of the Mute Swan on Ogden found it looking a little distraught and sticking to the banking side. I was about to contact Judy at Swan Rescue when she appeared on the promenade and was also concerned for its well being so she was going to return with the cavalry to try to examine its condition.
Otherwise Ogden was quiet with 2 Common Sandpiper, 2 Heron and a flock of around 20 Long Tailed Tits making their way around the waterside trees. The water held 10 LBB and 2 Herring gull.
