Vis mig match abandoned through fog, and a lost Parakeet.

A montage of the Parakeet found at Queensbury.
                                    Ogden Common gull

                         Several Black Headed present
                                                           Common
                       Sub adult Lesser Black Backed
                                            Very few big gulls present.

  • A Parakeet has turned up at a local ladies house at Queensbury which she managed to capture and is looking after it hoping that someone reports it missing. The bird is very tame though has no leg ring and can even speak at least one word which it keeps repeating. Its a shame it can,t say its home address. I won,t disclose the word it says for I.D. purposes if someone claims it.
  • If anyone reports a missing bird to birders, which they often do, contact me on my mobile, the number is at the top of the blog.
  •                                  0800 hrs at Fly Flatts this morning found dense fog and heavy drizzle only clearing briefly giving me enough time to check the water. Just a few Wheatear and Mipits around the launching area but by 0930 hrs the fog was thicker than ever so up stumps and head for home.
  • The annoying part was, less than a mile down the road the skies were clear.
  •                               Late afternoon and with fog still on the tops it was a quick trip to Ogden to check out the gull situation. Several BH gulls were present along with 4 Commons but big gulls were sparse with just 2 adult Herrings, which left before I,d chance to check them out, along with 6 LBBs .
  •               Otherwise on the water it was just down to the usual Mallards and 3 Great Crested Grebes, 2 adults and 1 juv.
  • Hopefully the fog will clear by morning but with a light W>3 and showers forecast things don,t look good.
