Stonechats ground hopping through.
- A cool clear morning but thwarted by the strong NE>5 gusting 6 which had increased to NE>6 gusting 7 by late afternoon . Cloudy in the morning with full sun p.m. with an early morning temperature of 10 degrees.
- Nothing special of note today and no big counts but once again a busy morning and a good variety of birds. Stonechats were moving through which has been a rare species at this site all year where there are usually good numbers.
- LBB gulls were active but no continuation of the wildfowl move though wind surfers were on the water enjoying the strong winds. Only 4 Swallows today ,again in the afternoon, and these came over very high.
- Dave Barker,(DCB) rang me this morning to alert me of 2 Red Kite passing the wind turbines but they were just over the east ridge so out of sight to me.
- Congratulations on your retirement Dave, you,ve worked long and hard for it, enjoy every minute of it, which I,m sure you will with your outdoor interests. I,ve now made you an official member of the veteran club so I look forward to seeing you in the veterans hut where HC is the present chairman.
