A foggy start to Autumnal Equinox, Fly Flatts,(permit only).

A nice show of Stonechat moving through.

                                    Another wave of Wheatear present.
Defence Helicopter Flying School over the moor.
I thought it was the Copper Chopper.
Good to see the Wheatears are still coming
  • A disastrous start to the day with thick fog at Fly Flatts early morning and getting thicker as the morning went on. Hoping for a clear I hung on until 0915 hrs before admitting defeat.
  •                                Late afternoon the skies were clear and sunny with a temperature of 16 degrees on a moderate W>4.
  •                                  A new wave of Wheatear had arrived along with Stonechats passing through, mainly around the south bank and in the boat compound.
  • A few hirundines passed over as well as Mipits which had probably been pinned down with the earlier fog whilst a good flock of Goldfinch and Linnets were present on the track side Thistles.
  •                                A pleasing afternoon which made up for a disappointing morning.
