- Another wild day up on the tops with a strong WSW>6 gusting 7 with clear conditions at 10 degrees.By late afternoon the wind had increased to near gale SW>7 gusting 8 with bright skies and sunshine at 15 degrees. The wind was so strong the sailing club meeting had to be aborted early
- A rush of Mipits before the wind got too strong but all coming through to the west of me low down below the sky line skimming the moor making counting difficult. After about 30 minutes several Mipits were ground hopping with several dropping onto the banking and moor.
- The first move of Blackbirds started with 4 high over the water and >W whilst 5 Mallard flew high in the opposite direction >E.
- A nice little group of House Martins came through late morning as I was packing up, all very low to the water before skimming over the Flat Moor.
- On my way home late afternoon I stopped to let traffic through just below Mixenden reservoir with my window down when a squawk made me look up to see a Ring Necked Parakeet fly over the car from the large pine in the swing park and drop down into a large enclosed garden by the mini roundabout. A quick reverse and turn round, plus a bit of horn blowing and abuse from other cars, and a park up near the house.
- Out with the camera but frustratingly I could hear the bird but the high hedge surrounding the garden stopped me from seeing it and by now I was getting a few looks from behind curtains thinking some escaped nutter was on the run so I quickly exited the area. One to look for tomorrow.
