Up to the wilds of Fly Flatts

                                     Reservoir still well froze over
                                 Mist over the ice
                                High and dry
                                Just 2 Canada Geese present

                                Frozen slipway

The rise in temperature this morning brought the common weather conditions back to Fly Flatts with a low cloud base and mist rolling across the moor bringing drizzle throughout and some heavy rain showers. A very dark, full cloud morning on a S>5 increasing 6 at 7 degrees.
A late start this morning not leaving the house until 0815 hrs, still waiting for some daylight, and still part dark as I arrived at the reservoir. The water was still 100% frozen, as was the lagoon, so that, combined with low cloud, knocked off much chance of finding any bird life.
Just 2 Canada geese present on the ice, then feeding on the west bank, whilst 8 Herring gull flew low over the water>SE as well as 7 Black Headed.
A walk along the windy west bank failed to find any grounded Snow or Lap Bunts with just 2 Meadow Pipit near the feeding area as I topped up the seed.
A Raven and 2 Crows were battling over the Nab but otherwise, as expected, extremely quiet.
Around 150 mixed gulls were in the Bonnet fields, Bradshaw with around 40 Herring and LBB, the rest being small gulls but nothing in the way of  Yellow Legged, Iceland, Caspian or Meds.
Tomorrow looks a better day with a drop in temperature but still a moderate sou'westerly.
