Back to the Leeshaw gulls.

                                    Another glorious morning
                                    Several Arcus clouds, 'roll clouds'.

                                               Several Common Gull
                                          38 Herring gull present

                                  Common
                                    Herring
                                    3 Teal across the water.

Centre bird, Scandinavian Herring gull, 'argentatus'
Dark mantle, heavy head and neck streaking.

Rear bird, 'argentatus' Could,nt make out primary window pattern.

A beautiful winters morning at Leeshaw with clear skies and full sunshine on a light NW>3 at minus 1 degree .
Not as many small gulls today with the fields frozen solid so most gulls which were present stuck to the water. Around 100 small gulls and 38 Herring, one of which showed characteristics of  a Scandinavian argentatus with a darker mantle and very head and neck streaking. Unfortunately it did,nt fly so could,nt see the significant primary window markings on P10, P9 and P5.
Just a few Canadas, Greylags and Mallard on the water with 3 Teal resting under the far bank which never moved throughout.
Otherwise down to the normal species but an unconfirmed report of a Jack Snipe seen by one of the locals yesterday sounded good going by his description and the short low flight after it flushed.
I,m saying nowt about tomorrows weather as they change their minds every time I check on it but as the cars in for MOT early morn it won,t really affect me.
