    `                            Goldeneye and Goosander

A lively morning with the temperature back down to 4 degrees with partial cloud on a SW>4 with good visibility although poor light and all birds distant.
A drop in temperature did the trick at Leeshaw this morning bringing a pair of Goosander onto the water as well as a female Goldeneye, the latter not being a regular winter visitor at this site. A group of 8 Teal were also present but very mobile and sticking to the NW of the reservoir by the reed beds.
Several Redwing were moving around the Hawthorns along with a few Fieldfare whilst a flock of 79 Greylag flew overhead to a distant field.
Gull numbers are building well with around 400 including 53 Herring but no LBBs. A scope through as many as possible failed to find anything special apart from 2 Common Gull with white leg rings, one on the left leg and the other on the right leg but too far to read the number and the light being too poor to pull a good shot in. Plenty gull photos to scan through now to see if anything was hiding in the groups.
Poor for photos this morning as all the birds were distant keeping to the far side of the water but nice to know the wildfowl are creeping back in.
I sadly received a text this evening informing me of 2 Mute Swan and a Canada Goose found dead on the Wibsey Park lake and are under investigation believing the cause of death being avian flu.
Looking like another half good day tomorrow but still with a moderate, increasing strong, sou'westerly.
