2m 1f Goosander. Distant on the edge of first light.
Usual Mallard present
Winter thrushes
Scud clouds moving in.
Rain on its way.
Just 6 1cy Herring gulls
Christmas morn at Leeshaw reservoir was pleasant enough at first light with a mix of sunshine and showers on a moderate SSW>4 at 5 degrees. The light was very slow coming this morning then by 0930 hrs the clouds rolled in from the west bringing rain.
More or less a rerun on yesterdays visit apart from a single Wigeon which left the water >S before first light. The 3 Goosander were present again but they also left just on first light which is normal for them and usually returning late afternoon. Otherwise just Mallards on the water other than gulls. Gull numbers were down yet again from yesterday with around 150 small gulls and 6 Herring, all 1cy.
Plenty Redwing and Fieldfare, as well as Mistle Thrush, moving around the hedges, with a Kestrel hovering overhead whilst a count of 27 Pheasant were across in the field near the farm.
Well its all over now bar't shouting and hope you,ve all had a good day. I was a bit disappointed that I did,nt get a Canon 800mm f5.6 L IS lens from Santa but at £ 13,549 I suppose I was aiming a bit high.
