LEESHAW Common gulls starting to show more now
DOE PARK Grey Wagtails
3 of 4 2 ad 2 juv,
juv bird
Another day of low cloud, moderate W>6 wind and drizzle throughout the day up on the tops.
Back to a wet and windy Leeshaw reservoir at 12 degrees but plenty to watch and count throughout the mornings watch.
Very few gulls but a good move of Hirundines and Swift whilst a female Merlin sped through scattering a flock of around 40 Goldfinch. Lapwings were on the far bank and a single Curlew flew over high and >W but no other waders present. The local farmer reported several sightings of Short Eared Owl over the fields and moor.
A late afternoon trip to Doe Park found it a little livelier than my last visit with a family of Grey Wagtails, 2 ad , 2 juv, by the valve tower, along with 2 Dippers in the outlet.
Just a handful of gulls plus the usual Cormorant. A lady dog walker reported seeing 2 Kingfishers present by the boatyard.
