Fly Flatts weather, not to be taken lightly. !

                                             1 of 8 Wheatear
This had me thinking juv Redstart till I discovered it was just the sun lighting up
                                                        the tail, juv Stonechat.

Fly Flatts takes no prisoners, the remains of a wind surfing board this afternoon.

                                                Full speed ahead.
                                                            Rough water
                                    Near gale force SW>7 at 32 m.p.h.
                                                      High tide on the slipway.
                                                          Male Stonechat

A windy morning but nothing to what Fly Flatts had planned for the afternoon. A moderate SW>4 at 12 degrees with 80% cloud and some sun. By late afternoon the wind had risen to near gale force SW>7 blowing at 32 m.p.h. Only the highly skilled wind surfers dare risk the water which had a deep swell and white horses blasting across. There was such force on the water that one wind surfer had his board broke in two.
Raptors were the main feature today enjoying the strong wind whilst a single Raven, a Curlew >W and Swallows were on the move. At the height of the wind in the afternoon 4 House Martin struggled low over the water >S.
Just 3 Stonechat remained today in the lee of the boatyard whilst 8 Wheatear were across on the west banking. Not a lot in the way of birds but spectacular to see the water doing a good imitation of the North Sea.
