Fly Flatts

                                    2 of 4 Teal

                                        Teal disappearing into the haze.

Another bright and sunny morning but very stagnant with not an ounce of breeze making it very hazy to the west at 9 degrees .
A better Pink Footed Goose morning with 2 skeins over but well to the north of me heading west and out of camera range being only just visible through the bins but countable through the scope before they disappeared into the haze beyond the west ridge.
Scanning the west bank I spotted 4 Teal on the cobbles just above the water line. At first I thought there were 8 until I realized that I was looking at their reflections in the very calm water. Within a few minutes of seeing them they lifted off and headed SW down the valley.
Skies were reasonably quiet and once again difficult spotting the Mipits which were coming over very high on a broad front in the bright sky with a steady flow until 0900 hrs then just sragglers after that.
A group of LBB gulls headed >SW in V formation, also very high and quite noisy, possibly pre roost birds from TMR.
Its starting to look a bit sad on the wader scene again this year which is usual at this site during the autumn period, even though conditions around the shore are ideal. Strange how I do well in the spring, if the water level is down, but poor in the autumn.
Part cloud for morning on a light easterly and a good chance of fog.
