Fly Flatts in the fog. (permit only)

                                Shore full of Meadow Pipits

                                1 of 5 Wheatear
Very deep coloured upright bird, probable Greenland.
                                    As good as it got

                                No shortage of shore
                                Island looking good
This has got to tempt waders down!

Dense fog throughout, courtesy of the light E>3 with visibility down to 50 yds at 12 degrees and drizzle.
Only visibility this morning was to check the slipway plus the south east and south shore which were packed with Meadow Pipits along with 5 Wheatear, one of which looked good for female Greenland with long legs, deep rufous colouring and 7 primary tips.
The Linnet flock is now up to around 40, feeding on thistles down the track whilst a single Grey Wagtail was moving around the shoreline.
No chance of seeing anything on the water or in the air with such limited visibility.
One hour to kill early afternoon so, being dull and misty along with me having a ' Lame under t'cap' moment, I thought Id do a quick gull check at Ogden which is not the brightest of ideas on a Sunday afternoon.
I got half way on Ogden Lane to find just what I should have expected, gridlock, with cars trying to get in and out of the overfull carparks. This is what happens to a beauty spot when it starts with a cafe, toilets and ice cream cart.
A rapid turn around and back to the tranquillity of the Ned Hill track. A walk on as far as NKs Redstart tree where he found a cracking male Redstart  and 2 juvs back in August 16th 2014. No prize today with nothing but a charm of around 50 Goldfinch and a few LBB gulls heading >NE through the col.
The order for morning is, you guessed it, FOG, on a very light >NE eventually turning SW by the afternoon so hopefully the last of the fog for a few days.
