Another foggy start at Fly Flatts partially clearing by 0830 hrs giving visibility over the water but a very low cloud base never clearing the tops of the turbines. A moderate NE>5 gusting 6 at 15 degrees.
Enough visibility to check the shore with a walk of the south and west bank plus a scope of the east and north end. The shores were alive with Meadow Pipits now congregating ready for the big move with one wave already gone through.
The same 2 Wheatear as yesterday were by the lagoon but very mobile whilst 6 Reed Bunting were in the compound bushes along with 2 Wrens.
Nothing on the water other than 3 Canadas and a female Mallard whilst the bit of sky I could see produced 2 LBB and 2 Black Headed gulls >NE along with 3 Swallows >W.
This time last year I had several passerines moving through with a family of 4 Whinchat along with 13 Stonechat and several Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler whilst Wigeon were on the move with 1 at Fly Flatts and 4 on the water at Ogden as well as 2 Teal and 1 pair of Shoveler.
First skein of Pink Footed geese went over >E on the 12th with several skeins in the following days.
Another capful of fog for morning on a light north east. This could be seen this afternoon from Foxhill Park where I can always see Menwith Hill and Otley Chevin to the east and as far as the Humber Bridge when its clear but today I could only see over Thornton, 5 miles away with fog clouds waiting in the wings.
I've re-opened the link for Trektellen which should be kicking off soon if anyone is interested in visible migration.
