Leeshaw in weather that I,m getting used to.

                                Female Goosander on the waves

                                    Several Herrings

                                    Black Headed

Yet another of those atrocious mornings with a strong W>5 and heavy horizontal drizzle throughout at 6 degrees. Visibility was sketchy with clear spells in between the banks of drizzle.
As usual, in these conditions, it was a good morning for gulling with a constant passage of gulls through heading west, some stopping off at the water whilst others continued straight through face on into the weather.
The water was very rough with a deep swell making scoping difficult with birds on the water but I,m pretty sure nothing untoward got past me. The majority of gulls were Black Headed with Commons, then Herrings, and the lowest count being LBBs.
The main species I was checking for was Yellow Legged Herring, Great Black Backed and Med gull. Any Icelands I,ve had have been early in the new year.
Nothing else on the water other than Mallards and a single female Goosander whilst the beck is still a raging torrent in flood so no chance of the Dipper or Kingfishers.
Raggalds Flood held 82 Lapwing, 2 Herring and several small gulls.
Looking a bit drier in the morning to begin with but a very light easterly, probably meaning fog for the tops.
