Gulls in the 'Bonnet' fields
Good count of Common gull
2 Herring gull
Thick fog at Queensbury this morning so I set off with the intensions of Leeshaw reservoir but once past the Mountain it was clear and looking across the valley I could see the west ridge so change of plan and headed for Fly Flatts.
Fly Flatts was very misty with a moderate NE>4 and light drizzle with just enough visibility to see across the water. By the time I,d walked the south bank and part way on the west bank the fog was piling in cutting visibility to a few yards so after checking the compound area, and no signs of it clearing, I up stumps and headed home with just 1 Meadow Pipit and 1 Kestrel sighted.
On the way back I stopped to check the gulls in the 'Bonnet' field with a good count of 38 Commons, 2 Herring and several Black Headed along with a few LBBs a couple of fields away.
A late afternoon dog walk up Foxhill Park, just as the fog was lifting, was a surprise with 8 Pied Wagtail and a single Wheatear on the football pitch, the latter being a first for this site.
The Wagtails were still present on the early evening walk but no sign of the Wheatear.
