Single distant Herring gull 1 CY
The new sailing club watch-point
1 of 15 Reed Buntings.
A mid afternoon visit today once the gale force winds, torrential rain and mist on the tops had cleared.
The watch started off with heavy rain on a strong SW>6 easing to SW>4 and some sunshine at 15 degrees.
As expected, on an afternoon visit, things were quiet, the highlight being a flock of 15 Reed Buntings dropping into the compound bushes. Several blogging Meadow Pipits were present as well as a few high and >S.
A Buzzard, Rave and Kestrel were in the air whilst a single 1 CY Herring gull was on the NE bank throughout the time I was there.
The recent 2 days of heavy rain has filled the reservoir to the top and overflowing now with no shore or peninsular left and too late in the season for it to drop in time for any waders. The only chance of waders now is if any drop onto the cobbled banking.
Looking like a fine clear morning tomorrow so chance of some Pinks on the move.
