The good run had to come to an end at some point, Fly Flatts.

Unusual for BH gulls on the water here
1 Greylag in with the Canadas.

Both Barnacles back today after a few months absence

                                                 1 of 4 noisy Raven.

Reflective image, The Nab, over still waters.
                                                 The boatyard
Very hard checking the water with these reflections.
                                       SW to Stoodley Pike

Looking beyond Queensbury from Cold Edge Rd with Drax power station on the horizon.

A very calm morning with a NNE>1 at 6 degrees and full light cloud cover giving good visibility.
By late afternoon the wind had moved SW>2 bringing some very black clouds and light rain showers.
Despite what seemed to be perfect conditions and plenty movement east of the east ridge the sky was dead with not a moving bird seen until after 0930 hrs and even then I was only getting trickles through. This happens each year nearing the end of October when the visible migration season dries up at this site other than Woodpigs going out and winter wildfowl moving in.
The water was a bit more active with Canadas, a single Greylag, the return of the 2 Barnacles plus Mallards whilst 2 Wheatear were across on the Robin Rock.
Six boats were out on the water this afternoon but that looked about as boring as todays birding with the sailors having to blow into the sails to make the boat move.
Just received a text from reliable Catherine Slack, Queensbury birder Ian Bruce reporting 3 Great White Egrets over his house >NE at 1635 hrs. Ironically, the first for Calderdale bird I got over Fly Flatts was 18/10/2017 at 1500 hrs >NE, how spooky is that!
