NOTE !!

Fly Flatts, yet another Black Redstart for the area.

                                                Still 2 Wheatear present

                                               Mallards in to land
                                            Local Canadas
3 1st year Herring on the distant north shore

  •  A bright and sunny morning, which is not the best weather for Fly Flatts, on a cold NW>4 at 6 degrees. Visibility was clear apart from the glare from the sun.
  •                                A quiet start with things starting to kick off around 0930 hrs with a good move of Jackdaws and LBB gulls whilst moving Starling numbers are building up.
  •                             A walk the length of the west bank found 3 first year Herring gulls across on the north shore and 3 Swallows fast and low over the water.
  •                              Back at the SW corner a scan of the Robin Rock found a single Wheatear when suddenly a Black Redstart dropped down at the side of it flashing its tail. Almost immediately both birds dropped from sight behind the rock not to be relocated. A further check in the afternoon of the rock area and the 2 hot spots at Slade and Withins Head farm found nothing although 2 Wheatear were down by the feeding station.
  •   The bird was much darker than the Soil Hill bird being an adult male.
