An amazing count of 17 Collared Doves at the top of the Dailie Fields
Dailies, Wheatear hot spot but not yet
Raggalds Flood in good fettle.
After a horrendous night of gale force winds, heavy snow and thunder and lightening the day was slightly calmer but a mixed bag of sunshine and showers still with the cold W>5.
Despite the conditions movement was underway this morning with a steady flow of around 50 Meadow Pipits >N whilst on my way to work.
Herring and LBB gulls were heading >N up the Aire Valley route whilst a Buzzard was reported over the Thornton area, JL.
A dinner time dash was on the cards to check across the valley although I lost time watching a count of 17 Collared Doves and 11 Magpies on the old allotments at the top of the Dailies along with a good sized colony of House Sparrows which need checking out for Tree Sparrow at some point.
The skies from the Dailies were quiet although by this time the weather had closed in bringing rain.
An evening check on the Raggalds Flood found it brimming with water but void of any bird life what so ever.
