Gulls on the east shore
Yellow Legged Herring gull
As per usual, the light SE>3 brought thick fog to the tops so a low expectancy check on Ogden thinking the public would keep away in the dull and damp conditions. Very dark and mist but below the cloud base with reasonable visibility but not skyward.
Even at 0745 hrs the place was busy with very noisy public screaming at off lead dogs making it near impossible to scan through the gulls which were flushed every time they landed.
Around 80 mixed BH and Common, 12 LBB and 1 Yellow Legged Herring gull, the latter just showing up as I was leaving but, once again, flew out onto the water after 2 quick shots.
A quick check on passerine alley found a few singing Wrens and Robins but with the public rolling in, and to make it worse, the cafe opening, it was abandon ship at 0900 hrs.
A dog walk up the Soil Hill track early p.m. produced a skein of Pinks to the south of me but heard only up in the low cloud and unable to distinguish a direction. A pair of Stonechat were moving around on the old dew pond stones.
A mixed bag for morning with cloud, rain and sun on a light sou'westerly, and looking out tonight, fog.
