After a very wet start with heavy rain showers the sky brightened and the rain stopped leaving 80% cloud on a moderate SW>4 at 8 degrees.
Things are slowing down drastically now, vis mig wise, and waiting for the Scandinavian invasion of Fieldfare due any day now with the big move day usually around the 19th Oct though weather has been against them so far with no clear windows across the North sea.
Just Starling, Woodpig and Redwing seen moving this morning with several grounded Mipits.
A decent count of small gulls but very few LBB and even less Herring gull. Otherwise, just a few bits and bats around but nothing to get the adrenaline flowing.
A real nightmare getting to Leeshaw this morning with the road through Oxenhope closed for 3 weeks and the diversion was a nightmare being 4 miles longer and packed with traffic on narrow roads plus major repairs and traffic lights when you eventually get out onto the main Keighley to Oxenhope road. Coming back I came over Fly Flatts on the death defying Nab Water Lane. Looks like Leeshaw is out of the running for at least 3 weeks.
Luckily its nearly time to bring Mixenden into play although gulls are not yet using this reservoir for some reason. Ogden will get a bit more use as long as the banking remains to hold the gulls. Hopefully the blog will get less boring shortly.
Looking like some rain for morning on a light westerly then a brighter day.
