Mist and drizzle, Leeshaw reservoir

Tall grass in the goose field

                                    In there somewhere
1 of 2 Oystercatchers in the mist
                                    1 Pair Pheasants.
                                    LBBs in the murk.
                                    1 Great Tit up singing
as well as a single Whitethroat.

Dense fog on the tops this morning and even Leeshaw was misty with drizzle throughout on a near calm ENE>1 at 10 degrees. Visibility across the water but very dark with no vertical vision.
More or less the same as yesterday with the Whitethroat still singing away but no sign of a mate yet and the Dipper was still showing in the stream.
Around the water was quite stagnant with birds reluctant to move in the gloom with just 2 Oystercatchers, 1 Redshank and the usual Lapwings and Curlews. A group of 12 LBB gulls dropped off briefly on the water before continuing >W whilst a single Moorhen was moving around the banking.
Plenty Swallows and Sand Martins over the water but no House Martins today. The highlight of the morning was my first Cuckoo of the year calling from a tree across the water, and then later from the plantation up towards the top farm but no sighting in the misty conditions.
Still NE and cloudy for the morning though visibility is showing as moderate but this probably does'nt include Fly Flatts.
