30 + Siskin flock
Horrific photos in the dark and fog
The long staying Goosander.
Thick fog at Ogden this morning with very limited visibility over the water and very dark in the trees.
A light W>2 at 5 degrees.
Despite the fog, small passerines were very active around the waterside track, once I had managed to nail them, down though most showed as black dots in the darkness of the trees. I managed to eventually find a good Siskin flock of around 30 birds but too dark to pick out any Redpoll among them.
The usual Tit flock, as well as Goldfinch, with just a single Chaffinch among them.
The water held a few Common and Black Headed gulls as well as the long staying female Goosander although the fog was that thick there could have been 50 Whoopers out in the middle which I wouldnt have know, as long as they kept quiet.
The Dipper was down in the sluice gate area but I have,nt had the Kingfisher down there for some time now.
Unfortunately now, for the next few weeks, there will be a lot of disturbance along the west bank with the annual Christmas tree disposal going on, what a waste of so many trees. Ours goes back into the box until next year.
More rain forecast for early morn tomorrow then supposedly brightening up which is ok for the late starters.
