A bright sunny start to the morning as I left Queensbury but on arrival at Fly Flatts the mist was hanging over the hilltops with poor visibility but looking as if it would soon clear. That idea couldn,t have been more wrong as the fog started to pile in from the west until visibility was down to a few yards remaining throughout. A light SW>2 at 5 degrees so not enough to move the fog.
At 0830 hrs a skein of Pinks came over to the north of me very noisily contact calling but no chance of seeing them or defining whether they were heading west or east.
A long dog walk and a check of the trees and bushes produced 8 Reed Buntings, 1 Pied Wagtail, a few Red Grouse and a single Lapwing on the banking.
The forecast for the rest of the week smells of fog !!
