Stonechat arrival at Fly Flatts and Whoopers for Ogden.

FLY FLATTS                                            1 of 2 Redshank
                                                          2 of 3 Oystercatchers
                                                  Usual pair of  Ringed Plover

OGDEN                            Mute Swan
                                            25 Whoopers in fading light
Mute Swan juv 2Y12 a swan rescue ring.

                                              Sun going down beyond Withins.
                                                         Over the wind farm building.

Dense fog on the tops this morning as expected with a light E>3 so postponed the Fly Flatts visit to mid afternoon where it was hazy with some sun at 6 degrees.
Newcomers were 5 Stonechat and 8 Reed Bunting as well as several more Meadow Pipits but all at distance towards the Flat Moor. A group of 5 Herring gulls headed >SE whilst 3 Raven were being mobbed by Curlews.
Just the usual on the deck with 2 Ringed Plover, 3 Oystercatchers and 2 Redshank plus the usual Canadas etc.
An early evening call from Nick Small got me heading to Ogden when he reported 25 Whoopers on the water. The swans were across near the NW shore in fast fading light and all very noisy and neck bobbin looking ready for off but still there as I left at 1800 hrs. Thanks for the call Nick.
The juv Mute Swan that NK found yesterday was still present and I managed to get a leg ring number as it swam past. The yellow leg rings are Judy Hoggs birds through Swan Rescue so I reported the sighting to her tonight. She said 5 Whoopers were on Park Dam yesterday but unfortunately a Swan was found dead under a pylon.
