Horton Bank Top C.P.

                                       Nice selection of gulls
Cormorants are unusual here. Left hand bird in breeding plumage.,
Still a few big gulls about
Thought Id got a Med gull here with the size of its hood, till I saw the black primaries.
                                       Several 1st winter Herrings

                                               Just the 1 adult Herring
Adult LBBs have been scarce this winter.

                                                  1st winter Herring

Another morning of dense for easing slightly midday then coming back in as mist and rain late afternoon. Bank Top C.P. was very dark and wet on a light E>2 at 5 degrees.
No birding again in the morning but went to do a gull check mid afternoon with a nice variety of different aged gulls. The majority were Black Headed, several with full hoods now, and a lower count of Commons. Once again LBBs had a poor turn out but several Herrings, mostly 1st winter, with a couple of 2nd winter and just a single adult.
A pair of Cormorant were present which was an unusual find for this location, one bird being in full breeding plumage with the white thigh patch and head gear. This courtship plumage is gone by late spring.
