Spring at Fly Flatts, (permit only)

                                                 A pair of non photogenic

A good count of Canadas inc a few Greylags.

                                                            2 LBB gulls through >NE

                                         2 Ringed Plovers still present.

A bright but cold morning at Fly Flatts with a light NE>3 at 0 degree but pleasant in the sunshine.
It seemed like the birds knew it was March 1st today with a pair of Stonechat and a single Skylark waiting at the top gate for me whilst around 150 very noisy Canadas and 6 Greylag were on and around the the water.
At least 7 Curlew were on the grassy east bank along with 4 Lapwings with several more Curlew over the top fields.
Nothing much in the air with a couple of Kestrels over the Nab and 4 gulls >NE, 2 LBBs and 2 Commons.
The pair of Ringed Plovers were still on the east bank but no sign of the Oystercatchers.
On my way back, the usual check of the Nolstar field produced 18 Skylark but still no Golden Plovers in the area.
A good number of small gulls were on Mixenden reservoir but no re-run of March 1st last year when 14 Whoopers were on the water . March was a good month for Mixenden last year with a second group of Whoopers as well as Avocet and Iceland gull.
