Goldies for Fly Flatts, Siskin for Ogden.

FLY FLATTS                      Curlews paired up on the moor
                                                as well as Oystercatchers.

                                                 Usual Ringed Plovers present

Wagtail looked very pale for a female Pied with some features of White.
                                       Still under investigation.

Golden Plovers back right on schedule
Very distant over Fill Belly Flat

OGDEN                        Chance of a first time breed at Ogden for this species
Birds been here 5 days now.

Siskins at  last with 6 present.
                                                      A cracking male

Bit wishy washy all sticking to the tops of the dark Alders.

                                                     female

An icy cold morning at Fly Flatts with temperatures down to 2 degrees on a moderate SW>4 with broken cloud and sunshine, clouding mid watch.
Much the same as previous visits but the return of Golden Plover which was expected  any time now. The flock was flushed briefly by a Buzzard giving a quick aerial display before dropping back out of sight on the Flat Moor.
A very pale female yarrellii/alba wagtail has got me getting the books out checking for White although it could easily just be a Pied.
Ogden mid afternoon was very grey and windy keeping yesterdays display of small passerines hidden in the woods with just a few Goldcrest and 2 Treecreepers with no sight or sound of Chiffchaff. The highlight , at long last , was 6 Siskin in the Alders but keeping right to the top of the trees in dark lit conditions making photos difficult but nice to get an appearance at last.
Just 2 adult LBBs and 4 sub adult Herrings on the water along with 2 Canadas whilst the long staying Oystercatchers are showing signs of breeding.
