Female Ringed Plover on the slipway.
Common Sandpiper, same area.
Buzzard >SW, very high in the rain.
Missing Primaries and tail feathers.
A wet and windy morning at Fly Flatts with a NW>4 and rain showers at 5 degrees. By late afternoon the wind had eased and turned N>3 before turning back to NW>4 again and more heavy showers.
The shore birds seemed to be keeping their heads down today, especially this morning, with no newcomers and still no sign of a Turnstone for me. The nearest so far was one at Hollingworth Lake last Friday which is only 12 miles SW of Fly Flatts so theres chance yet plus the fact that several have now left the Oxford area, hopefully heading NNW. This info courtesy M.C.
A few raptors today with a very high Buzzard >SW plus, Merlin, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk but otherwise a steady day, not helped by no access on the west bank with grass cutting going on all day. Several Swallows were passing through in no specific direction.
