3 more Dunlin for Fly Flatts

                                          Male Greenland Wheatear
                                           A real long legged species

Very few Common Sandpipers nesting this year
                                              Canada family growing well
                                                 1 of 5 Common Sandpipers

                                                            Plenty Curlew present.

A dry day throughout with a SW>3 increasing SW>4 p.m. at 6 degrees rising to 12. Some sunshine with 60% cloud.
A bit more activity in the air today with around 30 Swifts and a few House Martins over Mixenden reservoir as I passed early morning whilst Fly Flatts had several feeding Swallows over the water. A small number of LBB and Herring gull were moving whilst 3 Buzzard were up together over Tatty Pie Hill to the west. A Short Eared Owl and male Merlin were also over the moor.
The wader scene improved slightly with the arrival of 3 Dunlin but keeping well to the north end of the east bank. Otherwise it was down to Ringed Plover, Common Sandpiper and Oystercatcher .
There seems to be a last wave of Wheatear moving through with 3 Northerns and a cracking male Greenland. I was also told that there were several Wheatears on the walls at the northern end of the reservoir.
A weather front approaching for tomorrow with a forecast of rain throughout and a moderate westerly which could be interesting.
