Common Sandpipers settled in and paired up now
Seem to get plenty food out of the spume
One of a pair, this confusing Pied male is a bit of an intermedius or in late moult
It also has a badly deformed right foot which gives it difficulty walking but seems
to manage ok and is set up for breeding.
A light covering of snow on the tops this morning on a cold W>4 at 2 degrees with part cloud and sunshine. By late afternoon the temperature at Fly had only risen to 4 degrees with some heavy snow showers and thunder.
Off to a good start early morn with a single Golden Plover in the track side field and 19 Herring gulls over >SW. After that it was all downhill with a very quiet watch throughout with empty skies and very few waders showing.
Scoping from the NW corner of the west bank 2 Dunlin were moving around on the east bank whilst the 2 Ringed Plovers were feeding in the boatyard.
Only 4 Common Sandpipers found today along with 2 Oystercatchers.
The waders were much livelier during the afternoon watch with the wind increased and the sun blanked out. The heavy snow showers did,nt seem to bother them at all.
